Checking
the
transaxle fluid level
automatic
Your Hyundai automatic transaxle is
specially designed to operate with
Hyundai Genuine ATF SP-III, DIA-
MOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or
otherbrandsapprovedbyHyundaiMotor
Co.,Damagecausedbyanonspecified
fluidisnotcoveredbyyournewvehicle
limitedwarranty.
The automatic transaxle fluid level
should be checked and changed at
those intervals prescribed in the main-
tenance schedule. It is of paramount
importancethatonlythespecifiedfluid
is used when replenishing or changing
the fluid. The use of other fluids may
irreparably damage the transaxle and
invalidatethemanufacturerswarranty.
Inadditiontheingressofdirtorlintmay
prevent correct functioning of the
transaxle and care must be exercised
to prevent the ingress of such matter.

The automatic transaxle fluid level
should be checked regularly.
Keep the vehicle on the level ground
withtheparkingbrakeappliedandcheck
thefluidlevelaccordingtothefollowing
procedure.

CAUTION:
The transaxle fluid level must be
checkedwiththeenginerunningand
atnormaloperatingtemperatureand
therefore care must be exercised to
prevent injury occurring through
contact with rotating or hot parts of
the engine.
1.
Place the selector lever in N (Neu-
tral)positionandconfirmtheengine
is running at normal idle speed.
2.
After the transaxle is warmed up
sufficiently (fluid temperature
70~80°C(158~176°F)),forexample
by10minutesusualdriving,shiftthe
selector lever through all positions
then place the selector lever in N
(Neutral) or P (Park) position.
