parkofftheright-of-way.
Putavehiclewithanautomatic
transaxleinpark(P),amanual
transaxleinneutral.
WARNING
Applytheparkingbrake.

Turnofftheairconditioner.
Checkwhethercoolantorsteamis
escapingfromunderthehoodorfrom
theenginecompartment.
CoolingFanandEngine
Inspection:
Inspectingtheenginewiththeignition
switchintheONpositionis
dangerous.Thecoolingfancouldturn
onunexpectedlyevenwhentheengine
isn'trunning.Youcouldbeseriously
injuredbythefan.Turntheignition
switchoffandremovethekeyfromthe
ignitionswitchwhenyouinspectthe
engine.
Ifsteamiscomingfromtheengine
compartment:
Don'tgonearthefrontofthevehicle.
Stoptheengine.
Waituntilthesteamdissipates,then
openthehoodandstarttheengine.
Ifneithercoolantnorsteamis
escaping:
Openthehoodandidletheengineuntil
itcools.
CoolingSystemCaps:
Whentheengineandradiatorarehot,
scaldingcoolantandsteammayshoot
outunderpressureandcauseserious
injury.Don'tremoveeithercooling
systemcapwhentheengineand
radiatorarehot.
CAUTION
Ifthecoolingfandoesnotoperate
whiletheengineisrunning,theengine
temperaturewillincrease.Stopthe
engineandcallanAuthorizedMazda
Dealer.
SteamfromOverheatedEngine:
Steamfromanoverheatedengineis
dangerous.Theescapingsteamcould
seriouslyburnyou.Openthehood
ONLYaftersteamisnolonger
escapingfromtheengine.

Makesurethecoolingfanisoperating,
thenturnofftheengineafterthe
temperaturehasdecreased.
6.
Whencool,checkthecoolantlevel.
Ifit'slow,lookforcoolantleaksfrom
theradiatorandhoses.
