Beforeaddinganyfluid,makesurethecorrecttypeisused.Thetypeof
fluidusedisnormallyindicatedonthedipstickandalsointhe
Maintenanceproductspecificationsandcapacitiessectioninthis
chapter.
Note:OnlyoneATFfluidspecificationhasbeentestedandapprovedfor
usewiththeautomatic6-speed:PremiumAutomaticTransmissionfluid.
Merconfluidscannotbeusedwiththeautomatic6-speedwithout
damageorvoidingwarranty.
Useofanon-approvedautomatictransmissionfluidmaycause
internaltransaxlecomponentdamage.
Ifnecessary,addfluidin1/2pint(250mL)incrementsthroughthefiller
tubeuntiltheleveliscorrect.
Ifanoverfilloccurs,excessfluidshouldberemovedbyanauthorized
dealer.
Anoverfillconditionoftransmissionfluidmaycauseshiftand/or
engagementconcernsand/orpossibledamage.
Donotusesupplementaltransmissionfluidadditives,treatmentsor
cleaningagents.Theuseofthesematerialsmayaffecttransmission
operationandresultindamagetointernaltransaxlecomponents.
