AlltheseconditionsarenormalduringAdvanceTrac௡operation.
IftheAdvaceTracsystemisactivatedforanextendedperiodoftime,the
brakeportionofthesystemwillshutdowntoallowthebrakestocool
down.AlimitedAdvanceTrac௡functionusingonlyenginepower
reductionwillstillhelpcontrolthewheelsfromover-spinning.Whenthe
brakeshavecooleddown,thesystemwillagainfunctionnormally.
Anti-lockbrakingisnotaffectedbythisconditionandwillfunction
normallyduringthecool-downperiod.
Donotalterormodifyyourvehicle’ssuspensionorsteering;the
resultingchangestothevehicle’shandlingcanadverselyaffect
theAdvanceTrac௡system.Also,donotinstallastereo
loudspeakernearthefrontcenterconsoleorundereitherfront
seat.Thespeakervibrationscanadverselyaffectthe
AdvanceTrac௡sensorslocatedinthisarea.
Aggressivedrivinginanyroadconditionscancauseyoutolose
controlofyourvehicleincreasingtheriskofseverepersonal
injuryorpropertydamage.TheoccurrenceofanAdvanceTrac௡event
isanindicationthatatleastsomeofthetireshaveexceededtheir
abilitytogriptheroad;thismayleadtoanincreasedriskoflossof
vehiclecontrol,vehiclerollover,personalinjuryanddeath.Ifyou
experienceasevereroadevent,SLOWDOWN.
TRACTION CONTROL™ (IF EQUIPPED)
YourvehiclemaybeequippedwithaTractionControl™system.This
systemhelpsyoumaintainthestabilityandsteerabilityofyourvehicle.It
isespeciallyusefulonslipperyroadsurfaces.Thesystemoperatesby
detectingandcontrollingwheelspin.Thesystemborrowsmanyofthe
electronicelementsalreadypresentintheanti-lockbrakingsystem
(ABS).
Wheel-speedsensorsallowexcesswheelspintobedetectedbythe
TractionControl™portionoftheABScomputer.Excesswheelspinis
controlledthrougheitherengineorbraketorquereduction.Thisis
realizedviathefullyelectronicenginecontrolsystem.Thisprocessis
verysensitivetodrivingconditionsandveryfastacting.Thewheels
“search”foroptimumtractionseveraltimesasecondandadjustments
aremadeaccordingly.
TheTractionControl™systemwillallowyourvehicletomakebetteruse
ofavailabletractiononslipperysurfaces.Thesystemisadriveraid
whichmakesyourvehicleeasiertohandleprimarilyonsnowandice
coveredroads.
