TheTractionControlSystem(TCS)
enhancestractionandsafetyby
controllingenginetorqueandbraking.
WhentheTCSdetectsdrivingwheel
slippage,itlowersenginetorqueand
operatesthebrakestopreventlossof
traction.
Thismeansthatonaslicksurface,the
engineadjustsautomaticallytoprovide
optimumpowertothedrivewheels
withoutcausingthemtospinandlose
traction.
Thesystemisoffwhentheignitionisoff.
NOTE
Cruisecontrolwillcancelatabout15km/h(9
mph)belowthepresetspeed(suchasmay
happenwhenclimbingalong,steepgrade)or
below30km/h(19mph).
WARNING
Donotrelyonthetractioncontrol
systemasasubstituteforsafedriving:
Thetractioncontrolsystem(TCS)
cannotcompensateforunsafeand
recklessdriving,excessivespeed,
tailgating(followinganothervehicle
tooclosely),andhydroplaning
(reducedtirefrictionandroad
contactbecauseofwaterontheroad
surface).Youcanstillhavean
accident.
Usesnowtiresortirechainsonthe
frontwheelsonlyanddriveatreduced
speedswhenroadsarecoveredwithice
and/orsnow:
Drivingwithoutpropertraction
devicesonsnowand/orice-covered
roadsisdangerous.Thetraction
controlsystem(TCS)alonecannot
provideadequatetractionandyou
couldstillhaveanaccident.
