Placingachild,12yearsorunder,inthefrontseatisdangerous.Thechildcouldbe
hitbyadeployingairbagandbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Evenifthefront
passengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates,alwaysmovethefront
passengerseatasfarbackaspossible.Asleepingchildismorelikelytoleanagainst
thedoorandbehitbythesideairbaginamoderate,right-sidecollision.Whenever
possible,alwayssecureachild12yearsandunderontherearseatswithan
appropriatechild-restraintsystemforthechild'sageandsize.
Neverusearear-facingchild-restraintsysteminthefrontseatwithanairbagthat
coulddeploy:
Rear-facingchild-restraintsystemsonthefrontseatareparticularlydangerouseven
thoughyoumayfeelassuredthatafrontpassengerairbagwillnotdeploybasedon
thefactthatthefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates.
Thechild-restraintsystemcanbehitbyadeployingairbagandmovedviolently
backwardresultinginseriousinjuryordeathtothechild.
Donotsittooclosetothedriverandfrontpassengerairbags:
Sittingtooclosetothedriverandfrontpassengerairbagmodulesorplacinghands
orfeetonthemisextremelydangerous.Thedriverandfrontpassengerairbags
inflatewithgreatforceandspeed.Seriousinjuriescouldoccurifsomeoneistoo
close.Thedrivershouldalwaysholdontoonlytherimofthesteeringwheel.The
frontseatpassengershouldkeepbothfeetonthefloor.Frontseatoccupantsshould
adjusttheirseatsasfarbackaspossibleandalwayssituprightagainstthe
seatbackswithseatbeltswornproperly.
