Lighting
B, the manual headlamp mode has
X Switch on the ignition.
priority over the daytime running lamp mode.  X Turn the exterior lamp switch to position
Combination switch
The corresponding exterior lamps come on

X Switching on front fog lamps: Pull out the
exterior lamp switch to first stop.
The green indicator lamp¥  in the
exterior lamp switch comes on.
X Switching on rear fog lamp: Pull out the
exterior lamp switch to second stop.
The rear fog lamp, the front fog lamps and
the yellow indicator lamp†  in the
exterior lamp switch come on.
Fog lamps
Fog lamps cannot be switched on with the
exterior lamp switch in position*.  To
switch on the fog lamps, turn the exterior
lamp switch to positionB   first.
G Warning!
1  High beam
In low ambient lighting or foggy conditions,
only switch from position*  toB
with the vehicle at a standstill in a safe
location.
X Switching off front fog lamps/rear fog
lamp: Push in the exterior lamp switch to
its stop.
2  High-beam flasher
High beam
Switching from*  toB  will briefly
switch off the headlamps. Doing so while
driving in low ambient lighting conditions
may result in an accident.
Locator lighting and night security
illumination
X Turn the exterior lamp switch to position
B (Y page 100).
X Switching on: Push the combination
switch in direction of arrow 1.
The high-beam headlamp indicator lamp
A in the instrument cluster comes on.
X Switching off: Pull the combination switch
in direction of arrow 2 to its original
position.
Locator lighting and night security
illumination are described in the “Control
system” section, see “Setting locator lighting
and night security illumination (Headlamps
delayed shut-off feature)” (Y page 149).
Fog lamps will operate with the parking lamps
and/or the low-beam headlamps on. Fog
lamps should only be used in conjunction with
low-beam headlamps. Consult your State or
Province Motor Vehicle Regulations
regarding permissible lamp operation.
