Locking and unlocking

sufficient overhead clearance.
The trunk lid swings open upwards
Opening the trunk from the inside
opening when closing the trunk lid. Be
especially careful when small children are
around.

Opening the trunk from the outside
Observe Safety notes, see
page 59.
Do not leave the SmartKey in the open trunk.
You may lock yourself out.
If the vehicle was previously centrally locked
with the SmartKey or KEYLESS-GO, the trunk
lid will lock automatically when closed. All
turn signal lamps flash three times and an
acoustic signal sounds three times to confirm
locking.

Remote trunk opening switch
X Press switch 1 until the trunk begins to
open.
Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO:
To prevent a possible inadvertent lockout, the
trunk lid will open automatically if a SmartKey
with KEYLESS-GO is recognized inside the
vehicle or in the trunk.
The vehicle is only locked when the turn signal
lamps flash three times and an acoustic signal
sounds three times. If you are carrying a
second SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO with you,
you can still lock the vehicle.

Handle
Closing the trunk
X Press and hold buttoni  on the
SmartKey until the trunk unlocks and
begins to open.

X Pull on handle 1.
G Warning!
Make sure the trunk is closed when the
engine is running and while driving. Among
other dangers, deadly carbon monoxide
(CO) gases may enter vehicle interior
resulting in unconsciousness and death.
In vehicles without KEYLESS-GO: The
vehicle must be unlocked.
If the trunk does not open, it is still locked
separately (Y page 83).
G Warning!
To prevent possible personal injury, always
keep hands and fingers away from the trunk
