The smoothest way to transfer power
The best automatic transmissions change gear without
disturbing your driving pleasure. Take 7G-Tronic, for
instance. Its seven forward gears mean smaller jumps in
engine speed when shifting, making for practically
imperceptible gear changes. In addition, it can change
down several gears at a time when more powerful
acceleration is required.
As an alternative to the standard 7G-Tronic system, the
SL300, SL350 and SL500 are available with the 7G-Tronic
Sport transmission. It not only enables you to change gear
manually via steering wheel gear shift paddles: simply
sustain the pressure on the paddle and it automatically
jumps to the gear that will give you the most thrust.
The SL63 AMG offers even faster shifts, thanks to the
AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed automatic transmission.
It changes gear in record time without interrupting the
flow of power to the wheels.
