Thanks to its vario-roof, the SL is a roadster
you can enjoy in all weathers. Press a button
and it goes from hard-top to drop-top in just
16
seconds, the roof folding away into the
boot yet leaving 235 litres of luggage space.
With the roof up, there’s 339 litres.

But it’s not just your luggage that’s accom-
modated in comfort. When the conditions put
an end to the open-air entertainment, the
vario-roof makes the SL cabin as safe, quiet
and comfortable as a coupé’s.
In fact, there’s only one way to improve on
the ingenious vario-roof – and that’s with the
optional panoramic vario-roof. Made of glass
instead of metal, it opens the cabin up to the
skies – even when the roof’s closed.
