withhighqualityfueloftherecommendedoctaneand/orproperly
installingandsecurelytighteningthefuelcap.Afterthreedrivingcycles
withouttheseoranyothertemporarymalfunctionspresent,the
lightshouldturnoff.(Adrivingcycleconsistsofacoldenginestartup
followedbymixedcity/highwaydriving.)Noadditionalvehicleserviceis
required.
Ifthe
lightremainson,haveyourvehicleservicedatthefirst
availableopportunity.
Lightisblinking:
Enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcoulddamageyourcatalyticconverter.
Youshoulddriveinamoderatefashion(avoidheavyaccelerationand
deceleration)andhaveyourvehicleservicedatthefirstavailable
opportunity.
Underenginemisfireconditions,excessiveexhausttemperatures
coulddamagethecatalyticconverter,thefuelsystem,interior
floorcoveringsorothervehiclecomponents,possiblycausingafire.
Low fuel
Illuminatesasanearlyreminderofa
lowfuelconditionindicatedonthe
fuelgauge(refertoFuelgaugein
thischapterformoreinformation).
Whenrefueling,afterthelight
comeson,theamountoffuelthatisaddedwillbelessthanthe
advertisedcapacitysincethereisfuelstillinthetank.Theignitionmust
beintheRUNpositionforthislamptoilluminate.Thelampwillalso
illuminateforseveralsecondsaftertheignitionisturnedtotheRUN
positionregardlessofthefuelleveltoensureyourbulbisworking.
Air bag readiness
Momentarilyilluminateswhenthe
ignitionisturnedtotheRUN
position.Ifthelightfailsto
illuminate,continuestoflashor
remainson,havethesystem
servicedimmediately.
