carefully.
qDriverSeatSlidePositionSensor
Yourvehicleisequippedwithadriverseatslidepositionsensorasapartofthe
supplementalrestraintsystem.Thesensorislocatedunderthedriverseat.Thesensor
determineswhetherthedriverseatisforeoraftofareferencepositionandsendstheseat
positiontothediagnosticmodule(SASunit).TheSASunitisdesignedtocontrolthe
deploymentofthedriverairbagdependingonhowclosethedriverseatistothesteering
wheel.
Theairbag/frontseatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesifthesensorhasa
possiblemalfunction(page2-59)(AirBag/FrontSeatBeltPretensionerSystemWarning
Light).
qFrontPassengerSeatWeightSensors
Yourvehicleisequippedwithafrontpassengerseatweightsensorsasapartofthe
supplementalrestraintsystem.Thesesensorsarelocatedunderbothofthefrontpassenger
seatrails.Thesesensorsdeterminethetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat.The
SASunitisdesignedtopreventthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbelt
pretensionersystemfromdeployingifthetotalseatedweightislessthanapproximately30
kg(66lb).
Toreducethechanceofinjuriescausedbydeploymentofthefrontpassengerairbag,the
systemdeactivatesthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandalsotheseatbelt
pretensionersystemwhen:
Thereisnopassengerinthefrontpassengerseat.(Thefrontpassengerairbag

deactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminate.)
Thetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatislessthanapproximately30kg(66
l
lb).(Thefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates.)
Thissystemshutsoffthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
system,somakesurethefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates
accordingtothefollowingtable.
Theairbag/frontseatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesandthefront
passengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminatesifthesensorshaveapossible
malfunction.Ifthishappens,thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbelt
pretensionersystemwillnotdeploy.
