OccupantClassificationModule(OCM)
WARNING!
TheOCMislocatedbeneaththefrontpassengerseat.The
OCMclassifiestheoccupantintocategoriesbasedonthe
measurements made by the seat weight sensors. The 2
OCM communicates with the ORC. The ORC uses the
occupant category to determine whether the passenger
Advanced Front Airbag should be turned off. It also
determinestherateofairbaginflationduringacollision.
Ignoringthe“AirbagWarningLight”inyourinstru-
mentpanelcouldmeanyouwon’thavetheairbagsto
protectyouinacollision.Ifthelightdoesnotcome
on,staysonafteryoustartthevehicle,orifitcomes
onasyoudrive,haveanauthorizeddealerservicethe
airbagsystemimmediately.

WeightSensors
OccupantClassificationSystem(OCS)
YourvehiclehasfourWeightSensorslocatedbetweenthe
seat and the floor pan. The weight sensors measure
applied weight and transfers that information to the
OCM.
The OCS is part of a Federally regulated safety system
required for this vehicle. It is designed to turn off the
passengerAdvancedFrontAirbagforanemptyseatand
foroccupantsclassifiedinacategoryotherthananadult.
Thiscouldbeachild,teenager,orevenanadult.
• PassengerAirbagDisable(PAD)IndicatorLight
ThePADIndicatorLight(anamberlightlocatedinthe
centeroftheinstrumentpanel)tellsthedriverandfront
passengerwhenthepassengerAdvancedFrontAirbagis
turnedoff.ThePADIndicatorlightilluminatesthewords
NOTE: Children 12 years and younger should always
ride buckled up in a rear seat in an appropriate child
restraint.
