Diesel engines
The GL offers the latest in common-rail diesel technology. The V6 and V8 engines are both powerful, refined and efficient.
V6 diesel engine. With its lightweight V6 diesel
engine, precise piezo injectors, and high-pressure
injection, the GL350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY
delivers 224hp (165kW), plus 510Nm of torque
between 1,600 and 2,800rpm. Fuel consump-
tion, on the other hand, is rather more modest,
thanks not only to advanced diesel technology
but also to a range of other efficiency-enhancing
measures. These include front wheel arch
spoilers and a sealed grille badge, both of which
help to reduce the car’s drag, an electro-hydrau-
V8 diesel engine. With 306hp (225kW) and
700Nm of torque, the GL450 CDI’s V8 engine
lic power steering system that requires less fuel, sets the standard for muscular diesel power.
and tyres whose special rubber compound and
optimised tread result in considerably lower
rolling resistance.
In addition, it’s now more efficient and refined
than ever, thanks to a new turbocharger and
improvements to the flow of air through
the cooling systems and intake ports. The
GL450 CDI comes with particulate filters that
significantly reduce soot particle emissions.
