Off-road ability
Be it smooth tarmac or tough trails, the GL masters almost any terrain.
Off-Road Pro Package (standard). With the GL,
you can leave busy roads and beaten tracks
behind. In addition to 4MATIC all-wheel drive
and 4ETS, it comes with a standard Off-Road
Pro Package that makes it even better equipped
for traversing rough terrain. The package
includes an off-road ABS system that reduces
stopping distances on descents, especially on
loose surfaces, a Hill Start Assist function that
ensures you can pull away easily on inclines
and Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR), which
increases safety on steep descents by allowing
you to select a preset maximum speed.
A major factor in the GL’s exceptional off-road
ability is its suspension design, which features
double wishbones at the front and a four-link
set-up at the rear. In addition, its self-supporting
subframes ensure jolts are not transferred to the
vehicle’s body, significantly increasing comfort
for its occupants.
Maximum ramp angle: 23%
Maximum ground clearance: 307 mm
Maximum approach/departure angle: 33°/27°
