Safer driving
The GL comes equipped with electronic safety systems that can intervene in potentially dangerous situations and help to avoid accidents.
ESP with Trailer Stability Assist (standard).
The GL’s Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
includes Trailer Stability Assist, an additional
function that makes for safer driving when
towing. It intervenes automatically if the
sensors detect the onset of trailer sway, briefly
the vehicle in front. This makes driving on
multi-lane roads significantly more relaxing and
also means less pedal work in stop/start traffic.
If the system detects that the vehicle in front is
too close, it automatically adjusts your acceler-
ation or applies the brakes. As soon as the
road is clear, it accelerates again until the preset
cruising speed is reached.
applying the brakes to individual wheels in
order to counter the sideways motion.
Distronic (optional). At speeds of between 0 and
124mph, Distronic radar-assisted cruise control
automatically maintains a preset distance from
Blind Spot Assist (optional). Radar sensors
monitor the zones to the side of and behind the
vehicle. If the direction indicator is activated
and another vehicle is identified in the
monitored area, a visual and audible warning
alerts the driver.
