MAINTAININGYOURVEHICLE
The best time to check the engine oil level is about 5
minutesafterafullywarmedengineisshutoff,orbefore
startingtheengineafterithassatovernight.
CAUTION!
Overfillingorunderfillingthecrankcasewillcause
aeration or loss of oil pressure. This could damage
yourengine.
Checkingtheoilwhilethevehicleisonlevelgroundwill
improvetheaccuracyoftheoillevelreadings.Maintain
theoillevelbetweentheADDandSAFEmarkingsonthe
dipstick. Adding 1 U.S. Quart (0.95L) of oil when the
readingisattheADDmarkwillresultinaSAFEreading
ontheseengines.
ChangeEngineOil
Roadconditionsaswellasyourkindofdrivingaffectthe
intervalatwhichyouroilshouldbechanged.Checkthe
followingtodetermineifanyapplytoyou:
Dayornighttemperaturesarebelow32°F(0°C)
Stopandgodriving
Extensiveengineidling
Drivingindustyconditions
Shorttripdrivingoflessthan10miles(16.2km)
