Togainaccelerationin
(Overdrive)orDrive(O/DOFF)when
passinganothervehicle,pushtheacceleratortothefloor.The
transmissionwilldownshifttotheappropriategear:third,secondorfirst
gear.
Driving with a 5–speed automatic transmission (if equipped)
Yourautomatictransmissionelectronicallycontrolstheshiftfeelbyusing
anadaptivelearningstrategy.Thisfeatureisdesignedtoincrease
durability,andprovideconsistentshiftfeeloverthelifeofthevehicle.It
isnormalforanewtransmissiontoshiftfirmly.Thisoperationis
considerednormalandwillnotaffectfunctionordurabilityofthe
transmission.Oncethevehicleisatoperatingtemperatureitmaytake
severalshiftsatthesameoperatingconditionforthetransmissionto
properlyadapt.Overtimetheadaptivelearningprocesswillfullyupdate
transmissionoperation.Themorevariedthedrivinghabits,speedand
torque,thelongeritmaytaketoadaptbutthemorecompletethe
processwillbe.
Whenthebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryinstalled,the
transmissionmustlearnitsadaptivestrategy.Asaresultofthis,the
transmissionmayshiftfirmly.Thisoperationisconsiderednormaland
willfullyupdatetransmissionoperationtoitsoptimumshiftfeel.
Understanding gearshift positions
Holdthebrakepedaldownwhileyoumovethegearshiftlever
fromP(Park)toanotherposition.Ifyoudonotholdthebrake
pedaldown,yourvehiclemaymoveunexpectedlyandinjuresomeone.
P (Park)
Toputyourvehicleingear,starttheengine,depressthebrakepedal,
thenmovegearshiftleveroutofP(Park).
Alwayscometoacompletestop
beforeshiftingintoP(Park).Make
surethegearshiftleverissecurely
latchedinP(Park).Thisposition
locksthetransmissionandprevents
therearwheelsfromturning.
