Thefuelcapmaynothavebeenproperlyinstalledandsecurely
tightened.
Thesetemporarymalfunctionscanbecorrectedbyfillingthefueltank
withhighqualityfueloftherecommendedoctaneand/orproperly
installingandsecurelytighteningthegascap.Afterthreedrivingcycles
withouttheseoranyothertemporarymalfunctionspresent,theCheck
Enginelightshouldturnoff.(Adrivingcycleconsistsofacoldengine
startupfollowedbymixedcity/highwaydriving.)Noadditionalvehicle
serviceisrequired.
IftheCheckEnginelightremainson,haveyourvehicleservicedatthe
firstavailableopportunity.
Lightisblinking:
Enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcoulddamageyourcatalyticconverter.
Youshoulddriveinamoderatefashion(avoidheavyaccelerationand
deceleration)andhaveyourvehicleservicedatthefirstavailable
opportunity.
Underenginemisfireconditions,excessiveexhausttemperatures
coulddamagethecatalyticconverter,thefuelsystem,interior
floorcoveringsorothervehiclecomponents,possiblycausingafire.
Check fuel cap
Momentarilyilluminateswhenthe
CHECK
ignitionisturnedtotheONposition
FUEL CAP
toensureyourbulbisworking.
Whenthislightturnson,checkthe
fuelfillercap.Continuingtooperatethevehiclewiththecheckfuelcap
lighton,canactivatetheServiceEngineSoon/CheckEnginewarning
light.Whenthefuelfillercapisproperlyre-installed,thelight(s)will
turnoffafteraperiodofnormaldriving.
Itmaytakealongperiodoftimeforthesystemtodetectan
improperlyinstallfuelfillercap.
