(Overdrive)position.TheTCILwillilluminateontheinstrument
cluster.Transmissionoperatesingearsonethroughfour.Drive(O/D
OFF)providesmoreenginebrakingthan (Overdrive)andisuseful
wheneverdrivingconditions(i.e.,citytraffic,hillyterrain,etc.)causethe
transmissiontoexcessivelyshiftbetween (Overdrive)andother
gears.Deactivate (Overdrive)when:

DrivingwhileyoutowintheTrailerTowingchapter.

(Overdrive)mode,pressthetransmissioncontrol
switch.TheTCILwillnolongerbeilluminated.
Eachtimethevehicleisstarted,thetransmissionwillautomatically
returntonormal
(Overdrive)mode.

additionalenginebrakingon
downgrades.

Use1(First)toprovidemaximum
enginebrakingonsteep
downgrades.Upshiftscanbemade
byshiftingto2(Second)orto
(Overdrive).Selecting1(Low)at
higherspeedscausesthetransmissiontoshifttoalowergearandwill
shiftto1(First)afterthevehicledeceleratestothepropervehicle
speed.
Forced Downshifts
Togainaccelerationin
(Overdrive)orDrive(O/DOFF)when
passinganothervehicle,pushtheacceleratortothefloor.The
transmissionwilldownshifttotheappropriategear:fourth,third,second
orfirstgear.
