Emissioncontrol
Yourvehicleisfittedwithvariousitemsof
emissionandevaporativecontrolequipment
designedtomeetspecificterritorial
requirements.
Steering
Theintermediatesteeringshaftconnectingthe
steeringcolumntothesteeringboxis
designedtodisconnectundercertaincrash
conditions.Thisisacriticalsafetyfeatureand
anyservicing,replacementorrepairmust
ONLYbecarriedoutbyanauthoriseddealer
usingapprovedLandRoverparts.
Youshouldbeawarethatunauthorised
replacement,modificationortamperingwith
thisequipmentbyanownerorrepairshop
maybeunlawfulandsubjecttolegalpenalties.
Inaddition,enginesettingsmustnotbe
tamperedwith.Thesehavebeenestablished
toensurethatyourvehiclecomplieswith
stringentexhaustemissionregulations.
Incorrectenginesettingsmayadverselyaffect
exhaustemissions,engineperformanceand
fuelconsumption,aswellascausinghigh
temperatures,whichwillresultindamageto
thecatalyticconverterandthevehicle.
Examinationoftheintermediateshaftevery
24,000miles(40,000km)ortwoyearsisan
importantpartofthevehicle’ sservicing
schedule.However,youshouldbeawarethat
amorethoroughexaminationMUSTbe
carriedoutifthevehicleisinvolvedinafrontal
collision.
Undernocircumstancesshouldanyformof
oil,greaseorlubricantbeappliedtoanypart
ofthesteeringcolumnatanytime;anynoise
orroughnessofoperationshouldbereported
toyourdealer.
WARNING
Undernocircumstancesshouldanypartof
thefuelsystembedismantledorreplaced
byanyoneotherthanasuitablyqualified
motorvehicletechnician.Failuretocomply
withthisinstructionmayresultinfuel
spillagewithaconsequentseriousriskof
fire.
