Batteryremoval&replacement
Whenreplacing,ensurethebatteryisfitted
therightwayround(positiveterminaltowards
thecentreofthevehicle)andthatthe
clampingplateissecure.Tightentheclamping
platenutsuntiltheclampingplateisfreefrom
movement,butdonotovertighten.
Turnthethreeturnbucklesanti-clockwiseto
releasethebatterycoverandswitchoffall
electricalequipment.
Yourvehiclemaybefittedwithabattery
backed-upsounder,whichoperatesasan
anti-theftsirenifthemainbatteryis
disconnected.Ifthemainvehiclebatteryisto
beremoved,itisESSENTIALtoadoptthe
followingprocedurebeforedisconnectingthe
terminals,inordertopreventthealarmfrom
sounding:
Ifthesirensoundswhenthebatteryis
reconnected,itcanNOTbeturnedoffinthe
normalway(ie.byoperatingthehandset
buttons).Todeactivatethealarm,turnthe
starterswitchtoposition’1’.
Replacementbatteries
Onlyfitareplacementbatteryofthesametype
andspecificationastheoriginal-other
batteriesmayvaryinsizeorhavedifferent
terminalpositionswhichcouldcauseafire
hazardwhenconnectedtothevehicle’s
electricalsystem.

Turnstarterswitch’on’andthen’off’and
thenremovethekeyfromthevehicle.
2.
DisconnectbatteryWITHIN17SECONDS
(ifthebatteryisnotdisconnectedwithin
17
seconds,thealarmwillsound).
ALWAYSdisconnectthenegative(-)cable
firstandthenthepositive(’+’)cable.When
reconnecting,connectthepositivecablefirst
andthenthenegativecable.Donotallowthe
batteryterminalstomakecontactwithmetal
partsofthevehicle.
Batterydisposal
Usedbatteriesshouldberecycled.However,
batteriesarehazardous-youshouldseek
adviceaboutdisposalfromaLandRover
dealeroryourlocalauthority.
Toreleasethebatteryfromthecar,undothe
nutssecuringthebatteryclampingplateand
removetheclampingplate.

Donotreversethepolarityofthebattery
theelectricalsystemmaybedamaged

ifthebatteryleadsareconnectedtothe
wrongterminals.

Keepthebatteryuprightatalltimes-
damagewillbecausedifthebatteryis
tiltedmorethan45degrees.
DONOTruntheenginewiththebattery
disconnected,ordisconnectthebattery
whiletheengineisrunning.
