Seat belts
SEATBELTPRE-TENSIONERS
Theseatbeltpre-tensionersactivatein
conjunctionwiththeairbagSRSandprovide
additionalprotectionintheeventofasevere
frontalimpactonthevehicle(see’Airbag
SRS’).Thepre-tensionersautomatically
retracttheseatbeltsfittedtothefrontseats.
Thisreducesanyslackinboththelapand
diagonalportionsofthebelts,thereby
reducingforwardmovementofthebeltwearer
intheeventofaseverefrontalcollision.
IMPORTANTINFORMATION
Theseatbeltpre-tensionerswillonlybe
activatedonceandthenMUSTBE
REPLACED.Failuretoreplacethe
pre-tensionerswillreducethe
effectivenessofthevehicle’ srestraint
systems.
Afteranyfrontalimpact,theseatbelts
andpre-tensionersmustbecheckedand,
ifnecessary,replaced.Also,afteraperiod
of15years,thepre-tensionersmustbe
examinedandreplaced.
TheairbagSRSwarninglightonthe
instrumentpanelwillalertyoutoany
malfunctionoftheseatbeltpre-tensioners.
Intheinterestsofsafety,itis
recommendedthatremovalor
Ifthepre-tensionershavebeenactivated,the
seatbeltswillstillfunctionasrestraints,and
mustbewornintheeventthatthevehicle
remainsinadriveablecondition.
replacementofthefrontseats,seatbelts
andpre-tensionersshouldonlybecarried
outbyaLandRoverdealer.
Disposingofvehicles
NOTE:Theseatbeltpre-tensionerswillNOT
beactivatedbyrear,sideorminorfrontal
impacts.
Ifyousellyourvehicle,besuretoinform
thenewownerthatthevehicleisfitted
withpre-tensioners,andmakethenew
ownerawarethatthepre-tensionersmust
beexaminedandreplacedbyqualified
personnelafteraperiodof15years.
Ifyourvehicleistobescrapped,
unactivatedpre-tensionersarepotentially
verydangerousandmustbesafely
deployedinacontrolledenvironmentby
qualifiedpersonnel,beforeavehicleis
scrapped.
