coolantdegassystemwithapressurizedcap,orifitisnecessaryto
removethecoolantpressurereliefcapontheradiatorofavehiclewith
anoverflowsystem,followthesestepstoaddenginecoolant.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofpersonalinjury,makesurethe
engineiscoolbeforeunscrewingthecoolantpressurerelief
cap.Thecoolingsystemisunderpressure;steamandhotliquid
cancomeoutforcefullywhenthecapisloosenedslightly.

Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant
pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(anopaqueplastic
bottle).Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebegins
torelease.

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture(see
above),towithinthe“COLDFILLRANGE”orthe“FULLCOLD”
levelonthereservoir.Ifyouremovedtheradiatorcapinanoverflow
system,filltheradiatoruntilthecoolantisvisibleandradiatoris
almostfull.

Replacethecap.Turnuntiltightlyinstalled.(Capmustbetightly
installedtopreventcoolantloss.)
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,runtheengineforafewminutesto
mixthecoolant.Checkthecoolantconcentration.Makesuretheengine
isoffandcoolbeforeremovingthecoolantpressurereliefcap(see
precedingstepsoncapremoval).Checktheconcentrationperthe
Checkingenginecoolantsection.Iftheconcentrationisnot50/50
(protectionto–34°F/–36°C),drainsomecoolantandadjustthe
concentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0quart(1.0liter)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourauthorizeddealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.
