Ifthesafetybeltassemblyistooshortforyou,evenwhenfully
extended,20cm(8inches)canbeaddedtothesafetybeltassemblyby
addingasafetybeltextensionassembly.Safetybeltextensionassemblies
canbeobtainedfromyourauthorizedMazdadealership.
Useonlyextensionsmanufacturedbythesamesupplierasthesafety
belt.Manufactureridentificationislocatedattheendofthewebbingon
thelabel.Also,usethesafetybeltextensiononlyifthesafetybeltistoo
shortforyouwhenfullyextended.
NOTE:Donotuseextensionstochangethefitoftheshoulderbelt
acrossthetorso.

Inspectthesafetybeltsystemsperiodicallytomakesuretheywork
properlyandarenotdamaged.
NOTE:Ifunsureabouttheproperprocedures,bringyourvehicletoan
authorizedMazdadealershipforinspection.Inspectthesafetybeltsto
makesuretherearenonicks,tearsorcuts,replacingifnecessary.Check
allautomaticlockingretractorsonalloutboardseatingpositionsaswell
astheautomaticlockingmodeforchildsafetyseatsonthepassenger
frontbelt.Allsafetybeltassemblies,includingretractors,buckles,front
safetybeltbuckleassemblies,bucklesupportassemblies(slidebar-if
equipped),shoulderbeltheightadjusters(ifequipped),shoulderbelt
guideonseatback(ifequipped),childsafetyseattetherbracket
assemblies(ifequipped),LATCHchildseattetheranchorsandlower
anchors(ifequipped),andattachinghardware,shouldbeinspectedafter
acollision.Mazdarecommendsthatallsafetybeltassembliesusedin
vehiclesinvolvedinacollisionbereplaced.However,ifthecollisionwas
minorandanauthorizedMazdatechnicianfindsthatthebeltsdonot
showdamageandcontinuetooperateproperly,theydonotneedtobe
replaced.Safetybeltassembliesnotinuseduringacollisionshouldalso
beinspectedandreplacedifeitherdamageorimproperoperationis
noted.
Theenergyabsorbingfunctionsmayhavebeenactivatedinacollisionso
therestraintsshouldbeexamined;ifthefrontairbagshavedeployed,the
pretensionershavealsodeployedandmustbereplaced—regardlessof
whethertherewasanoccupantinthepassengerseatornot.The
optionalsideairbagsarenotconnectedtothepretensioners.
