Unlocking/locking in an emergency
Manually unlocking the gear selector
lever
Center armrest design B
In case of power failure, the gear selector
lever can be manually unlocked, e.g. to tow
the vehicle.

The gear selector lever is locked again
when moving it to position P.

Insert a tool 2 (e.g. flat blade screw-
driver) into the opening.
Center armrest design A
Pull the tab 1 of the covering back in
̈
direction of the center armrest com-
partment.
̈
Open the storage compartment under
the center armrest (୴ page 281).
̈ Perform the following two steps simul-
taneously:

Insert a tool 2 (e.g. flat blade screw-
driver) into the opening.
̈
̈
Press tool 2 forward in the
direction of the arrow.
Perform the following two steps simul-
taneously:
Move selector lever from
position P.
̈
Push tool 2 down- and forward in
the direction of the arrow.
̈
Reinstall the storage box 1 after re-
moving the tool 2 from the opening.
̈
Move gear selector lever from
position P.
̈
̈
Remove the tool 2 from the opening.
Push the tab 1 of the covering back.

Take out storage box 1.
