Thesystemhasbeendeactivatedtopreventdamageto
the brake system due to overheated brake tempera-
tures
POWERSTEERING
Thestandardpowersteeringsystemwillgiveyougood
vehicle response and increased ease of maneuverability
in tight spaces. The system will provide mechanical
steeringcapabilityifpowerassistislost.
NOTE:
•
The Traction Control system will make buzzing or
clickingsoundswheninoperation.
Ifforsomereasonthepowerassistisinterrupted,itwill
stillbepossibletosteeryourvehicle.Underthesecondi-
tions,youwillobserveasubstantialincreaseinsteering
effort, especially at very low vehicle speeds and during
parkingmaneuvers.
•
ExtendedheavyuseofTractionControlmaycausethe
system to deactivate and turn on the traction control
indicatorlocatedintheinstrumentcluster.
Thisistopreventoverheatingofthebrakesystemand
isanormalcondition.Thesystemwillremaindisabled
forabout4minutesuntilthebrakeshavecooled.The
system will automatically reactivate and turn off the
tractioncontrolindicator.
NOTE: Increasednoiselevelsattheendofthesteering
wheeltravelareconsiderednormalanddonotindicate
thatthereisaproblemwiththepowersteeringsystem.
Uponinitialstart-upincoldweather,thepowersteering
pumpmaymakenoiseforashortamountoftime.Thisis
due to the cold, thick fluid in the steering system. This
noiseshouldbeconsiderednormal,anddoesnotinany
waydamagethesteeringsystem.
•
Ifyourvehiclebecomesstuckinmud,ice,orsnow,
turn the Traction Control System OFF before at-
temptingto“rock”thevehiclefree.
