Adjustingautomatictransmissionfluidlevels
Beforeaddinganyfluid,makesurethecorrecttypeisused.Thetypeof
fluidusedisnormallyindicatedonthedipstickandalsointhe
Maintenanceproductspecificationsandcapacitiessectioninthis
chapter.
Useofanon-approvedautomatictransmissionfluidmaycause
internaltransaxlecomponentdamage.
Ifnecessary,addfluidin1/2pint
(250
mL)incrementsthroughthe
fillertubeuntiltheleveliscorrect.
Ifanoverfilloccurs,excessfluid
shouldberemovedbyanauthorized
dealer.
Anoverfillconditionof
transmissionfluidmaycauseshiftand/orengagementconcerns
and/orpossibledamage.
Donotusesupplementaltransmissionfluidadditives,treatmentsor
cleaningagents.Theuseofthesematerialsmayaffecttransmission
operationandresultindamagetointernaltransaxlecomponents.
Checking 6–speed automatic transmission fluid (if equipped)
Refertoyourscheduledmaintenanceinformationforscheduled
intervalsforfluidchecksandchanges.Yourtransaxledoesnotconsume
fluid.However,thefluidlevelshouldbecheckedifthetransaxleisnot
workingproperly,i.e.,ifthetransaxleslipsorshiftsslowlyorifyou
noticesomesignoffluidleakage.
Checkingautomatictransmissionfluidatnormaloperating
temperature(140°F-158°F[60°C-70°C])
Automatictransmissionfluidexpandswhenwarmed.Toobtainan
accuratefluidcheck,drivethevehicleuntilitiswarmedup
