ItisimportanttopresstheRESETcontrol(pressandholdRESETfor2
Secondsinordertoresetthefunction)aftersettingthespeedcontrolto
getaccuratehighwayfueleconomyreadings.
FormoreinformationrefertoFuelInformationintheMaintenance
andSpecificationschapter.
AverageSpeed
SelectthisfunctionfromtheINFOmenutodisplayAVERAGESPEED
andpresstheRESETcontrol(pressandholdRESETfor2Secondsin
ordertoresetthefunction).Youraveragespeedfromthatpointwillbe
displayeduntilRESETispressedandheldfortwosecondsagain.
Compassdisplay(ifequipped)
SelectthisfunctionfromtheINFOmenu.PresstheINFObutton
repeatedlyuntiltheCompassandOdometeraredisplayed.(Donot
selectTrip,DTE,orAFE.Thetopofthemessagecentermustbeblank).
Thecompassreadingmaybeaffectedwhenyoudrivenearlarge
buildings,bridges,powerlinesandpowerfulbroadcastantenna.Magnetic
ormetallicobjectsplacedin,onornearthevehiclemayalsoaffect
compassaccuracy.
Usually,whensomethingaffectsthecompassreadings,thecompasswill
correctitselfafterafewdaysofoperatingyourvehicleinnormal
conditions.Ifthecompassstillappearstobeinaccurate,amanual
calibrationmaybenecessary.RefertoCompasszone/calibration
adjustment.
Mostgeographicareas(zones)haveamagneticnorthcompasspointthat
variesslightlyfromthenortherlydirectiononmaps.Thisvariationisfour
degreesbetweenadjacentzonesandwillbecomenoticeableasthe
vehiclecrossesmultiplezones.Acorrectzonesettingwilleliminatethis
error.RefertoCompasszone/calibrationadjustment.

Performthisadjustmentinanopenareafreefromsteelstructuresand
highvoltagelines.
Foroptimumcalibration,turnoffallelectricalaccessories(heater/air
conditioning,wipers,etc.)andmakesureallvehicledoorsareshut.
