mode allows the front and rear wheels to rotate at
differentspeedswhicheliminatesdrivelinebindingand
componentwearthatisnormallyassociatedwithdriving
the vehicle in the 4 PART TIME position on dry hard
surfacedroads.Thisfeatureprovidesthesafety,security,
and convenience of operating in 4–wheel drive at all
timesregardlessofroadconditions.
The PART TIME indicator light, located on the instru-
mentcluster,illuminateswhenthetransfercaseisshifted
tothe4PARTTIMEposition.
The FULL TIME indicator light, located on the instru-
mentcluster,illuminateswhenthetransfercaseisshifted
tothe4FULLTIMEposition.
The 4LO MODE indicator light, located on the instru-
mentcluster,illuminateswhenthetransfercaseisshifted
tothe4LOposition.Thereisnolightforthe2WD,orN
(Neutral)positions.
When additional traction is required the 4 PART TIME
and4LOpositionscanbeusedtolockthefrontandrear
driveshafts together through the transfer case inter-axle
differential and force the front and rear driveshafts to
rotateatthesamespeed.Thisisaccomplishedbysimply
moving the shift lever to these positions. The 4 PART
TIMEand4LOpositionsareintendedforloose,slippery
roadsurfacesonly.Drivinginthe4PARTTIMEand4LO
positions on dry hard surfaced roads may cause in-
creasedtirewearanddamagetodrivelinecomponents.
