PARKINGBRAKE
To set the parking brake, pull the lever up as firmly as
possible. When the parking brake is applied with the
ignition ON, the “Brake Warning Light” in the instru-
mentclusterwilllight.Toreleasetheparkingbrake,pull
upslightly,pressthecenterbutton,thenlowerthelever
completely.
NOTE: The instrument cluster “Brake Warning Light”
indicatesonlythattheparkingbrakeisapplied.Youmust
besuretheparkingbrakeisfullyappliedbeforeleaving
thevehicle.
ParkingBrake
Besuretheparkingbrakeisfirmlysetwhenparked,andthe
gear shift lever is in the P (Park) position (automatic
transmission)orR(Reverse)or1stgear(manualtransmis-
sion).Whenparkingonahill,youshouldapplytheparking
brakebeforeplacingthegearshiftleverinP(Park),other-
wisetheloadonthetransmissionlockingmechanismmay
makeitdifficulttomovetheselectoroutofP(Park).
