WARNING
Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrown
outofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesame
collision,occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveruseoneseatbeltonmorethanonepersonatatime:
Usingoneseatbeltformorethanonepersonatatimeisdangerous.Aseatbelt
usedinthiswaycannotspreadtheimpactforcesproperlyandthetwopassengers
couldbecrushedtogetherandseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Neveruseonebeltfor
morethanonepersonatatimeandalwaysoperatethevehiclewitheachoccupant
properlyrestrained.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebelt
webbingoftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequate
protectioninacollision.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbelt
systemsinuseduringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhas
beenexpended:
Oneorbothfrontairbagsmaydeploy,andthecorrespondingpretensioner(s)may
alsodeployatthesametime.Liketheairbags,theseatbeltpretensionerswillonly
functiononce.Whileitissafertouseapost-crash(aseatbeltthatwasusedinan
accident)thannoseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpendedpretensioneror
loadlimiterloadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Iftheseatbeltpretensioners
arenotreplaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.Expendedseatbelt
pretensionersandairbagsmustbereplacedafteranycollisionwhichcausedthem
todeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwillonlylimitloadsonthechestonceina
collisionandthisisanotherreasontohavethefrontseatbeltsinspected.Always
haveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspecttheseatbeltpretensionersandairbags
afteranycollision.
