Donotincreasethetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat:
Whenaninfantorsmallchildsitsonthefrontpassengerseat,increasingthetotal
seatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatfromthetotalseatedweightof
approximately30kg(66lbs)isdangerous.Thefrontpassengerseatweightsensors
willdetecttheincreasedtotalseatedweight,whichcouldresultintheunexpected
deploymentofthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
systeminanaccidentandmaycauseseriousinjury.Increasingthetotalseated
weightonthefrontpassengerseatbeyondthetotalseatedweightofapproximately
30
beltpretensionersystemdeploymentinanaccidentunderthefollowingconditions,
forexample:
kg(66lbs)couldresultinthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseat
ØLuggageorotheritemsareplacedontheseatwiththechildinthechild-restraint
system.
ØArearpassengerorluggagepushorpulldownonthefrontpassengerseatback.
ØArearpassengerstepsonthefrontpassengerseatrailswiththeirfeet.
ØLuggageorotheritemsareplacedontheseatbackorhungontheheadrestraint.
ØTheseatiswashed.
ØLiquidsarespilledontheseat.
ØThefrontpassengerseatismovedbackward,pushingintoluggageorotheritems
placedbehindit.
ØThefrontpassengerseatbackcontactstherearseat.
ØLuggageorotheritemsareplacedbetweenthefrontpassengerseatanddriver
seat.
ØAnyaccessorieswhichmightincreasethetotalseatedweightonthefront
passengerseatareattachedtothefrontpassengerseat.
Thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemswill
deactivateifthetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatislessthan
approximately30kg(66lbs)andtheywillreactivatewhentheweightexceeds
approximately42kg(93lbs).
CAUTION
ØToassureproperdeploymentofthefrontairbagandtopreventdamagetothe
sensorsinthefrontseatbottoms:
Ø Donotplacesharpobjectsonthefrontseatbottomsorleaveheavyluggageon
them.
Ø Donotspillanyliquidsonthefrontseatsorunderthefrontseats.
ØToallowthesensorstofunctionproperly,alwaysperformthefollowing:
Ø Adjustthefrontseatsasfarbackaspossibleandalwayssituprightagainstthe
seatbackswithseatbeltswornproperly.
Ø Ifyouplaceyourchildonthefrontpassengerseat,securethechild-restraint
systemproperlyandslidethefrontpassengerseatasfarbackaspossible(page
2-35).
