Load ing
Steps  for Determining   Correct  Load  Limit
Locate  the  statem ent “The  combined   weight  of  occu-
pants  and   cargo  shou ld never  exceed   XXX pound s”  on
you r vehicle’s  placard .
The  vehicle  maxim um  load  on the  tire  must  not  exceed
the load  carrying  capacity  of the tire  on you r vehicle. You
will  not  exceed  the  tire’s  load  carrying   capacity   if you
adhere  to  the  load ing cond itions,  tire  size, and  cold  tire
inflation   pressu res  specified   on  the  “Tire  and  Load ing
Inform ation”  placard   and  in the  “Vehicle  Load ing”  sec-
tion  of this  manu al.

2.  Determ ine  the  combined    weight   of  the  driver   and
passengers   that  will be  rid ing in  you r vehicle.

Subtract  the  combined   weight  of  the  driver  and  pas-

The  resu lting  figure  equ als  the  available   amount   of
cargo  and  luggage  load  capacity.  For exam ple,  if “XXX”
amount   equ als 1400  lbs.  and  there   will  be five  150  lb.
passengers   in you r vehicle, the amount   of available  cargo
and  luggage  load  capacity  is 650 lbs. (since 5 x 150 = 750,
and  1400 – 750 =  650 lbs.)
To determ  ine the  maxim um  load ing  cond itions  of you r
vehicle,  locate  the  statem  ent  “The  combined   weight  of
occupants  and  cargo shou ld never  exceed  XXXkg or  XXX
lbs.”  on the  Tire  and  Load ing Inform ation   placard . The
combined    weight    of   occupants,    cargo/  luggage    and
trailer  tongu e weight  (if applicable)   shou ld never  exceed
the  weight  referenced  here.
5.
Determ ine the  combined  weight  of  luggage  and  cargo
being  load ed on  the vehicle.  That  weight  may  not safely
exceed  the   available   cargo  and   luggage   load  capacity
calculated  in  Step  4.
6.
If you r vehicle will  be tow ing a trailer,  load  from you r
trailer  will  be  transferred    to you r  vehicle.  Consu lt  this
