Ifyourvehicleisequippedwithfrontpassengerseatweightsensors,afrontpassenger
airbagdeactivationindicatorlightisalsoequipped(page2-37).Evenwiththefront
passengerseatweightsensors,ifyoumustusethefrontpassengerseatforchildren,
seatingachildinachild-restraintsystemonthefrontpassengerseatunderthe
followingconditionsincreasesthedangerofthefrontpassengerairbagdeploying
andcouldresultinseriousinjuryordeathtothechild.
Thetotalseatedweightofthechildwiththechild-restraintsystemonthefront

passengerseatisapproximately30kg(66lb)ormore.
Luggageorotheritemsareplacedontheseatwiththechildinthechild-restraint

ChildrenandSeatingPositionwithSideandCurtainAirBags:
Allowinganyonetoleanoveroragainstthefrontdoor,theareaofthefrontseat,front
andrearwindowpillarsandtheroofedgealongbothsidesfromwhichthesideand
curtainairbagsdeploy,eventhoughusingachild-restraintsystem,isdangerous.If
thevehicleisequippedwithsideandcurtainairbags,theimpactofinflationcould
causeseriousinjuryordeathtothechild.Furthermore,leaningoveroragainstthe
frontdoorcouldblockthesideandcurtainairbagsandeliminatetheadvantagesof
supplementalprotection.Withthefrontairbagandtheadditionalsideairbagthat
comesoutofthefrontseat,therearseatisalwaysabetterlocationforchildren.Do
notallowachildtoleanoveroragainstthedoors,evenifthechildisseatedina
child-restraintsystem.
