Ifyourvehicleisequippedwithfrontpassengerseatweightsensors,afrontpassengerair
bagdeactivationindicatorlightisalsoequipped(page2-37).Thesesensorsarelocated
underbothofthefrontpassengerseatrails.Thesesensorsdeterminethetotalseatedweight
onthefrontpassengerseat.Thesensorsarealsodesignedtopreventthefrontpassenger
frontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemfrominflatingifthetotalseated
weightislessthanapproximately30kg(66lb).
Toreducethechanceofinjuriescausedbydeploymentofthefrontpassengerairbag,the
systemdeactivatesthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandalsotheseatbelt
pretensionersystemwhen:
Thereisnopassengerinthefrontpassengerseat.(Thefrontpassengerairbag

deactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminate.)
Thetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatislessthanapproximately30kg(66
l
lb).(Thefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates.)
Thissystemshutsoffthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
system,somakesurethefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates
accordingtothechartbelow.
Theairbag/frontseatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesandthefront
passengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminatesifthesensorshaveapossible
malfunction.Ifthishappens,thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbelt
pretensionersystemwillnotdeploy.
Frontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlight
Thisindicatorlightilluminatestoremindyouthatthefrontpassengerfrontandsideair
bagsandseatbeltpretensionerwillnotdeployduringacollision.
Ifthefrontpassengerweightsensorsarenormal,theindicatorlightilluminateswhenthe
ignitionswitchisturnedtotheONposition.Afterabout6secondsitgoesout.
