Shiftintothisrangeonlyafterthevehiclehascometoa
completestop.
AutoStickisadriver-interactivetransmissionthatoffers
manualgearshiftingcapabilitytoprovideyouwithmore
control.AutoStickallowsyoutomaximizeenginebrak-
ing,eliminateundesirableupshiftsanddownshifts,and
improve overall vehicle performance. This system can
alsoprovideyouwithmorecontrolduringpassing,city
driving, cold slippery conditions, mountain driving,
trailertowing,andmanyothersituations.
“N”Neutral
Enginemaybestartedinthisrange.
“D”Overdrive
Tobeusedformostcityandhighwaydriving,itprovides
smoothest upshifts and downshifts and best fuel
economy. When frequent transmission shifting occurs
while using the “D” Overdrive position, such as when
operating the vehicle under heavy loading conditions,
(i.e.inhillyterrain,travelingintostrongheadwindsor
whiletowingheavytrailers),usetheAutoStickmodeand
selectthe“3”range.
AutoStickOperation
TheAutoStickpositionisjustbelowtheOverdriveposi-
tionandisidentifiedbytheword“AUTOSTICK”.When
youplacetheshiftleverintheAutoStickposition,itcan
bemovedfromsidetoside.Movingthelevertotheleft
(-)
triggers a downshift and to the right (+) an upshift.
NOTE:
Using the “3” range in the AutoStick mode
Thegearpositionwillbeshowninthetransmissiongear
display,locatedintheinstrumentcluster.
whileoperatingthevehicleunderheavyoperatingcon-
ditions will improve performance and extend transmis-
sionlifebyreducingexcessiveshiftingandheatbuildup.
