sioners, front airbags work with the instrument panel
knee blockers to provide improved protection for the
driverandfrontpassenger.Leftandrightwindowbags
alsoworkwithseatbeltstoimproveoccupantprotection.

Donotputanythingonoraroundtheairbagcovers
orattempttomanuallyopenthem.Youmaydamage
the airbags and you could be injured because the
airbags are not there to protect you. These protec-
tivecoversfortheairbagcushionsaredesignedto
openonlywhentheairbagsareinflating.
If your vehicle is equipped with left and right
windowbags,donotstackluggageorothercargoup
highenoughtoblockthelocationofthesidecurtain
airbag. The area where the side curtain airbag is
locatedshouldremainfreefromanyobstructions.
If your vehicle is equipped with left and right
window bags, do not have any accessory items
installedwhichwillaltertheroof,includingadding
asunrooftoyourvehicle.Donotaddroofracksthat
requirepermanentattachments(boltsorscrews)for
installationonthevehicleroof.Donotdrillintothe
roofofthevehicleforanyreason.

Theseatbeltsaredesignedtoprotectyouinmanytypes
of collisions. The front airbags deploy in moderate to
severefrontalcollisions.

NOTE: Thepassengerfrontairbagmaynotdeployeven
whenthedriverfrontairbaghasiftheOccupantClassi-
fication System (refer to “Occupant Classification Sys-
tem”inthissection)hasdeterminedtheseatisemptyor
isoccupiedbyachild.
Ifyourvehicleisequipped,thewindowbagonthecrash
sideofthevehicleistriggeredinmoderatetosevereside
collisions.Butevenincollisionswheretheairbagsinflate,
youneedtheseatbeltstokeepyouintherightposition
fortheairbagstoprotectyouproperly.
