DonotrelyonABSasasubstitutefor
safedriving:
TheABScannotcompensatefor
unsafeandrecklessdriving,excessive
speed,tailgating(followinganother
vehicletooclosely),drivingoniceand
snow,andhydroplaning(reducedtire
frictionandroadcontactbecauseof
waterontheroadsurface).Youcan
stillhaveanaccident.
Whendrivingoniceorinwater,snow,
mud,sand,orsimilarhazards:

forbraking.
Avoidsuddenbrakingandsudden
maneuvering.
Donotpumpthebrakes.Continueto
pressdownonthebrakepedal.
Ifyougetstuck,selectalowergearand
accelerateslowly.Donotspinthefront
wheels.
Formoretractioninstartingon
slipperysurfacessuchasiceorpacked
snow,usesand,rocksalt,chains,
carpeting,orothernonslipmaterial
underthefrontwheels.
RSCmighthelpifyougetinto
trouble,butthenitmightnotbeable
toallowyoutofullyrecover,always
drivecarefullywiththevehicle's
heightinmind.
