Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrown
outofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesame
collision,occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveruseoneseatbeltonmorethanonepersonatatime:
Usingoneseatbeltformorethanonepersonatatimeisdangerous.Aseatbelt
usedinthiswaycannotspreadtheimpactforcesproperlyandthetwopassengers
couldbecrushedtogetherandseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Neveruseonebeltfor
morethanonepersonatatimeandalwaysoperatethevehiclewitheachoccupant
properlyrestrained.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebelt
webbingoftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequate
protectioninacollision.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbelt
systemsinuseduringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhas
beenexpended:
Oneorbothfrontairbagsmaydeploy,andthecorrespondingpretensioner(s)may
alsodeployatthesametime.Whileitissafertouseacrash-usedseatbeltthatwas
usedinanaccidentthannoseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpended
pretensionerorloadlimiterloadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Liketheair
bags,theseatbeltpretensionerswillonlyfunctiononce.Aftertheyareexpended,
theywillnotfunctionagainandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheseatbelt
pretensionersarenotreplaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.Always
haveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspecttheseatbeltpretensionersandairbags
afteranycollision.Expendedseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsmustbereplaced
afteranycollisionwhichcausedthemtodeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwill
onlylimitloadsonthechestonceinacollisionandthisisanotherreasontohavethe
frontseatbeltsinspected.
Inarollovercrash,anunbeltedpersonissignificantlymorelikelytodiethana
personwearingaseatbelt.
