malfunctionintheelectricalsystemandthe
liftgatecannotbeunlocked,performthe
followingprocedureasanemergencymeasure
tounlockit:
Theliftgatecanbelocked/unlockedby
operatingthekeylessentrysystem
transmitter,refertoKeylessEntrySystem
(page3-13).

Removethecapontheinteriorsurfaceof
theliftgatewithaflatheadscrewdriver.
qLocking,UnlockingwithTransmitter
(withRetractableTypeKey)
Theliftgatecanbelocked/unlockedby
operatingthekeylessentrysystem
transmitter,refertoKeylessEntrySystem
(page3-22).
Cap
qLocking,UnlockingwithDoor-
LockSwitch
Theliftgatecanbelocked/unlockedby
operatingthedoor-lockswitch,referto
PowerDoorLocks(page3-28).

Turnthelevertotherighttounlockthe
liftgate.
qOpeningandClosingtheLiftgate
Openingtheliftgate
Lever
Pulluponthehandle.
Afterperformingthisemergencymeasure,
havethevehicleinspectedatanAuthorized
MazdaDealerassoonaspossible.
Closingtheliftgate
Usebothhandstopushtheliftgatedown
untilthelocksnapsshut.Donotslamit.
Pullupontheliftgatetomakesureitis
securelylatched.
