Removethekeyonlywhenthevehicle
isparked:
Removingthekeyfromtheignition
switchwhilethevehicleismovingis
dangerous.Removingthekeyallows
thesteeringwheeltolock.Youwill
losesteeringcontrolandaserious
accidentcouldoccur.(Forvehicles
equippedwiththeadvancedkey,the
steeringwheellockswhenthestarter
knobisturnedtotheLOCKposition.)
NOTE
WhentheignitionswitchisturnedtotheON
position,thesoundofthefuelpumpmotor
operatingnearthefueltankcanbeheard.This
doesnotindicateanabnormality.

willcrankuntilyoureleasethekey.It
thenreturnstotheONposition.
Beforeleavingthedriver'sseat,always
putthekeyorstartknobtoLOCK
position,settheparkingbrakeand
makesuretheshiftleverisinP:
Itisimportanttoplacethekeyor
startknobintheLOCKpositioneven
ifyouarenotremovingthekeyfrom
theignitionorleavingthevehicle.
Leavingthekeyinotherpositions
willdisablesomeofthevehicle
securitysystemsandrunthebattery
down.
qIgnitionKeyReminder
IftheignitionswitchisintheLOCKor
ACCpositionwiththekeyinserted,a
continuousbeepsoundwillbeheard
whenthedriver'sdoorisopened.
Leavingthedriver'sseatwithout
puttingtheignitionswitchinLOCK
position,settingtheparkingbrake
andshiftingtheshiftlevertoPis
dangerous.Unexpectedvehicle
movementcouldoccur.Thiscould
causeanaccident.
NOTE
Ifturningthekeyisdifficult,jigglethesteering
wheelfromsidetoside.
Leavingthekeyorstartknobinanyposition
butLOCKpositionalsodisablessomeofthe
securityfeaturesandmayrunthebattery
down.
