Improperorinadequatevehiclemaintenancecancausetirestowearabnormally.Hereare
someimportantmaintenancepoints:
qTireInflationPressure
Inspectalltirepressuremonthly(includingthespare)whenthetiresarecold.Maintain
recommendedpressuresforthebestride,tophandling,andminimumtirewear.Usethe
pressuresspecifiedonthevehicletireinformationplacardortirelabelforoptimumservice.
qTireRotation
Toequalizetreadwear,rotatethetiresevery12,000km(7,500miles)orsoonerifirregular
weardevelops.Duringrotation,inspectthemforcorrectbalance.
Forward
Do not include (TEMPORARY USE ONLY)
spare tire in rotation.
Inspectthetiresforunevenwearanddamage.Abnormalwearisusuallycausedbyoneora
combinationofthefollowing:
Incorrecttirepressure
l
Improperwheelalignment
l
Out-of-balancewheel
l
Severebraking
l
Afterrotation,inflatealltirepressurestospecification(page10-7)andinspectthelugnuts
fortightness.
