Handling and steering
The R350 CDI L’s permanent four-wheel drive system provides exceptional traction and stability, while the optional AirMATIC suspension offers an
outstanding blend of ride comfort and agility.

for the R350 CDI L is always active, enabling
it to react to rain, ice or snow without delay.
It works in conjunction with the Electronic

event of wheelspin, ensuring torque is only
sent to the wheels that have sufficient grip.
This enables the car to pull away cleanly and
accelerate powerfully even on difficult surfaces.
There’s also no need for conventional locking
differentials: the automatic pulsing of the
brakes further improves traction when pulling
away on slippery surfaces and increases stability
in critical driving situations. In addition, the
four-wheel drive system’s compact size and
carefully chosen materials mean it adds only
marginally to the overall vehicle weight.
Direct Steering (standard). The R-Class benefits
from a more direct ratio between the steering
wheel and the front wheels, meaning less effort
is required in tighter turns such as when park-
ing or in sharp bends. The result is a steering
