WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES

Set the parking   brake, place  an autom atic  transm ission in
P (Park) (or  N (Neutral)  for a manu  al transm ission).  Turn
off  lights,   heater,   and   other  electrical   load s.  Observe
charge  ind icator   in  the  battery.  If  ind icator  is  light  or
yellow,  rep lace the battery.
CAUTIO N!
Use  the  “Jump   Startin g”  proced  ure  only  when   the
charge  indicator   is dark  in the  center.  Do not  attem pt
jump   startin g  when   the  battery   charge  indicator    is
brigh t  or yellow.  If  the  charge  indicator   is dark   and
has  a  green  dot  in  the  center,  failu re  to  start  is  not
due  to a disch arged   battery  and  the  cran king  system
should   be checked.

WARN ING!
Do  not  perm it  veh icles  to  tou ch each  oth er  as  this
could   estab lish  a  grou nd  connection    and   person al
injury   could  resu lt.

Attach  one   end  of  the  jumper   cable  to  the  positive
term inal  of the  discharged   battery  and  the  other  end  of
the  sam e cable   to  the  positive  term inal   of the  booster
battery.
2.
Connect   one  end   of  the  other   jumper   cable  to  the
negative   term inal  of  the   booster   battery.   Connect   the
other  end  of  the jumper   cable  to a  good  grou nd  on  the
vehicle  with   the  discharged   battery.  Make  sure  a  good
connection  is  made,  free of  dirt  and  grease.
