passengers–thatthevehiclecanhandlewithoutriskingdamage.
(Important:Thetowingvehicle’sbrakingsystemisratedforoperationat
GVWR,notatGCWR.Separatefunctionalbrakesshouldbeusedforsafe
controloftowedvehiclesandfortrailerswheretheGCWofthetowing
vehicleplusthetrailerexceedtheGVWRofthetowingvehicle.The
GCWmustneverexceedtheGCWR.
MaximumLoadedTrailerWeight–isthehighestpossibleweightofa
fullyloadedtrailerthevehiclecantow.Itassumesavehiclewithonly
mandatoryoptions,nocargo(internalorexternal),atongueloadof
10–15%(conventionaltrailer)orkingpinweightof15–25%(fifthwheel
trailer),anddriveronly(150lbs.[68kg]).Consultyourdealership
(ortheRVandTrailerTowingGuideprovidedbyyourdealership)
formoredetailedinformation.
TongueLoadorFifthWheelKingPinWeight–referstotheamount
oftheweightthatatrailerpushesdownonatrailerhitch.
Examples:Fora5,000lbs.(2,268kg)conventionaltrailer,multiply
5,000
by0.10and0.15toobtainapropertongueloadrangeof500to
750
lbs.(227to340kg).Foran11,500(5,216kg)fifthwheeltrailer,
multiplyby0.15and0.25toobtainaproperkingpinloadrangeof1,725
to2,875(782to1,304kg).
DonotexceedtheGVWRortheGAWRspecifiedonthe
certificationlabel.
Donotusereplacementtireswithlowerloadcarryingcapacities
thantheoriginalsbecausetheymaylowerthevehicle’ sGVWR
andGAWRlimitations.Replacementtireswithahigherlimitthanthe
originalsdonotincreasetheGVWRandGAWRlimitations.
Exceedinganyvehicleweightratinglimitationcouldresultin
seriousdamagetothevehicleand/orpersonalinjury.
Stepsfordeterminingthecorrectloadlimit:
1.
Locatethestatement“Thecombinedweightofoccupantsandcargo
shouldneverexceedXXXpounds”onyourvehicle’ slabel.
2.
Determinethecombinedweightofthedriverandpassengersthatwill
beridinginyourvehicle.
