nightwiththeoutsidetemperaturesignificantlylowerthanthedaytime
temperature,thetirepressuremaydecreaseapproximately3psi(20.7
kPa)foradropof30°F(16.6°C)inambienttemperature.Thislower
pressurevaluemaybedetectedbytheTPMSasbeingsignificantlylower
thanthecoldpressureindicatedonyourvehiclestirelabel,andactivate
theTPMSwarningforlowtirepressure.Ifthelowwarninglightison,
visuallycheckeachtiretoverifythatnotireisflat.Ifoneormoretires
areflat,repairoffixasnecessary.Ifalltiresappeartobeinflated,
carefullydrivethevehicletothenearestlocationwhereaircanbeadded
tothetires.Turntheignitiontothe“off”position.Inflateallthetiresto
therecommendedcoldpressure.
Thesystemusesradio-frequencytomonitorthetirepressureonalltires
excludingthesparetire.Thesensorstransmitthetirepressurereadings
tothereceivermodulelocatedinthevehicle.Thereceivermodulethen
electronicallytransmitsthestatustothemessagecenter.Formoretire
warninginformation,refertotheMessageCenterintheDrivercontrols
chapter.
Thisdevicecomplieswithpart15oftheFCCrulesandwithRS-210of
IndustryCanada.Operationissubjecttothefollowingtwoconditions:
(1)
mustacceptanyinterferencereceived,includinginterferencethatmay
causeundesiredoperation.
Thisdevicemaynotcauseharmfulinterference,and(2)Thisdevice
ThetirepressuremonitoringsystemisNOTasubstitutefor
manuallycheckingtirepressure.Thetirepressureshouldbe
checkedperiodically(atleastmonthly)usingatiregauge,seeTire
inflationpressureinthischapter.Failuretoproperlymaintainyour
tirepressurecouldincreasetheriskoftirefailure,lossofcontrol,
vehiclerolloverandpersonalinjury.
