Push-Starting
Connectoneendofacabletothe
positiveterminalonthedischarged
battery(1).

TowingaVehicletoStartIt:
Towingavehicletostartitis
dangerous.Thevehiclebeingtowed
couldsurgeforwardwhenitsengine
starts,causingthetwovehiclesto
collide.Theoccupantscouldbe
injured.Nevertowavehicletostartit.
Attachtheotherendtothepositive
terminalontheboosterbattery(2).

Connectoneendoftheothercable
tothenegativeterminalofthe
boosterbattery(3).
l
Connecttheotherendtoasolid,
l
stationary,exposedmetallicpoint
(forexample,thefrontofengine
mountingbolt)awayfromthe
dischargedbattery(4).
Youcan'tstartavehiclewithanautomatic
transaxlebypushingit.
CAUTION

Starttheengineoftheboostervehicle
andrunitafewminutes.Thenstartthe
engineoftheothervehicle.
Donotpush-startavehiclethathasa
manualtransaxle.Itcandamagethe
emissioncontrolsystem.
Whenfinished,carefullydisconnectthe
cablesinthereverseorderdescribedin
theillustration.
Iftheenginecoverandthebattery
coverhavebeenremoved,installthem
astheywerepreviouslyinstalled.
NOTE
Verifythatthecoversaresecurely
installed.
