RunningtheVehicleWhileParked
Regenerative brakingisahybridtechnology  that
enablestheelectric  drivemotortooperateasa
generator whencoasting orbraking.Energyfromthe
movingvehiclerecharges  thehybridbattery.
Itisbetternottoparkwiththeenginerunning.     Butifyou
everhaveto,herearesomethingstoknow.
{WARNING:
Thehydraulic discbrakesworkwiththeregenerative
brakingtoinsureeffective  braking, suchaswhenahigh
brakingdemandisrequested.
Exitingthevehicle,  withoutfirstshifting into
P(Park),maycausethevehicletomove,andyou
orotherscanbeseriously   injured. Becausethe
vehiclehastheAutomatic  EngineStart/Stop
feature,thevehiclesenginemightseemtobe
shutoffwhenyoucometoacomplete    stop.
However,oncethebrakepedalisreleased,    the
vehiclecanmove.Thevehiclesenginecanalso
restartatanytime.
Thebrakingsystemiscomputer   controlled andblends
theregenerative brakingwiththeconventional  hydraulic
discbrakestomeetanyrequirements   fordeceleration.
Thecontroller interprets thebrakingrequestanduses
regenerative braking, conventional hydraulic brakingor
acombination ofbothasnecessary.Becausethe
controller appliesthehydraulic brakesthroughitshigh
pressure accumulator,youmayoccasionally  hearthe
motordrivenpumpwhenitrecharges   thesystem.This
isnormal.
ShifttoP(Park)andturntheignition    to
LOCK/OFF,beforeexitingthevehicle.
Intheeventofacontroller   problem, thebrakepedal
maybehardertopushandthestopping    distance may
belonger.
Followtheproperstepstobesurethevehiclewillnot
move.SeeShifting  IntoParkintheownermanualfor
