Prop er operation of 4-wheel drive vehicles depend s on
tires of equ al size, typ e and circumference on each wheel.
Any difference will adversely affect shifting and can
cause damage to the transfer case.

Do not attem pt to make a shift while only the
fron t or rear wheels are spinning. The Com mand-
Trac tran sfer case is not equipped with a syn chro-
nizer and therefore the fron t and rear drivesh aft
speed s must be equal for the shift to tak e place.
Shiftin g while only the fron t or rear wheels are
spinning can cause damage to the tran sfer case.

When operatin g you r veh icle in 4L, the engin e
speed is approxim ately three tim es that of the 2H
or 4H position s at a given road speed . Take care
not to oversp eed the engin e and do not exceed 25
mph (40 km/h).
